July 2nd onboard the Carnival Splendor

Today was HOT! Canadace and I spent a long hot night attempting to sleep. We got to our room only to find out at that the air conditioner was just a wall decoration and not actually a working unit. We tried sleeping with the window open but then heard all the traffic because we were on such a busy road. When morning came we were dead tired and ready to get on our air conditioned cruise ship. Unfortunately check in wasn't until 12:30. We got up and had some breakfast in the lobby of our hotel then tried to sleep for a few more hours. We got up and packed around 10:00 because we had to check out at 11:00. We weren't sure what we were going to do for an hour and a half with all of our luggage. So we grabbed our bags and started walking down the street to the pier. We were very relieved to see several other cruisers also walking to the pier when we got closer. We were absolutely thrilled to find out that Carnival was allowing people to check in early. So we got checked in and were advised that our rooms were not ready but we were free to roam the rest of the ship. We got some lunch and took some pictures of Genova. The rest of the day was uneventful which was exactly what we needed after the last two days, We went to dinner last night and met our table mates. The people at our table are all sailing by themselves and have some very “unique” personalities. After dinner we walked around the ship a little and ended making the decision to go to bed early and catch up on some z's. Tomorrow it's on to Monaco!
